Notes: Marged Ferch Ifan (baptized 1696- d.1793) was a wrestler, inn-keeper, harpist and notable character in the Beddgelert/Llanberis region, and the subject of numerous stories, anecdotes and rhymes celebrating her enormous strength. Although Pennant did not meet her when touring in the 1780s, his description of her feats of hunting and rowing made her famous to a wide readership.
