Notes: Sir Duncan 'Dubh' Campbell (1551x4-1631), or Donnchadh Dubh na Currag, first baronet of Glenorchy and a baronet of Nova Scotia. He became infamous for his ruthless expansion of his estates, and for plotting against the earls of Argyll in order to assume control of the entire Campbell clan. He was imprisoned at Edinburgh Castle for his role in feuds with the Campbells of Lawers, but purchased his freedom and later ingratiated himself with James VI by allowing stag hunting on his estates. The Black Book of Taymouth commissioned by his son recorded his deeds and the history of the Glenorchy family. ODNB.
