Notes: Sir James Hunter, first baronet Blair (1741-1787), was an Edinburgh banker, born in Ayr. In 1770 he married Jane Blair, heiriess of Dunskey House, Wigtownshire and assumed her surname. He was M.P. for Edinburgh from 1781-1784, and Lord Provost of that city from 1784, in which role he was responsible for the construction of the south bridge over the Cowgate. ODNB.
