Notes: Joshua Eddowes (1724–1811), the son of a grocer from Whitchurch, Shropshire, began printing in partnership with John Cotton, c. 1749, which was the year in which he was also admitted a freeman of the Combrethren of Saddlers. The partnership lasted until 1765, Eddowes continuing as printer on his own and subsequently in partnership with his son. His work included an imprint of the classic Welsh prose text by Ellis Wynne, Gweledigaetheu y Bardd Cwsg (1768), and several almanacs by Gwilym Howell. DWB; LW, ii, p. 689.
