Notes: (Johann) Georg Adam Forster (1754–1794) was a Prussian traveller and naturalist, son of (Johann) Reinhold Forster (1729-1798). Georg accompanied his father on expeditions in Russian and later to London in search of a position as a naturalist. In 1772, Georg and Reinhold Forster joined James Cook's second circumnavigation aboard the Resolution. Georg afterwards published a work on the plants of the Pacific with his father, and A Voyage Round the World, in His Britannic Majesty's Sloop, Resolution (1777). The German translation of the latter was highly influential. In Britain, Forster's Voyage sparked a bitter public dispute with the Earl of Sandwich, over the publishing rights to Pacific journals.
