Notes: James Edwards (1756–1816), book collector and bookseller, was established in business at Pall Mall, London, from 1784. He purchased and sold at auction the private libraries of English collectors and antiquaries, later expanding his interest to continental libraries through several trips abroad. In 1788 he purchased the Pinelli Library in Venice, producing a catalogue entitled Bibliotheca Pinelliana in advance of its sale in March 1789. ODNB.
