Notes: James Brudenell, fifth earl of Cardigan (1725–1811), was a member of parliament for various constituencies in Dorset, Sussex and Wiltshire between 1754 and 1780. On 18 April 1781, at the age of 65, he married for the second time. His bride was the 32-year-old Lady Elizabeth Waldegrave (1758–1823), daughter of John, third Earl Waldegrave.
