Gordon, Robert
AKA:
Title: Mr
Notes: Robert Gordon (1580-1661) was educated in Aberdeen and Paris. He is best known as a map-maker who collaborated with Joan Blaeu and Timothy Pont, contributing significantly to the former's 1654 Atlas of Scotland. There is much evidence however that Gordon's cartographic ambitions extended beyond his work with Pont and Blaeu. The National Library of Scotland holds 65 unpublished manuscript maps by Gordon, which Jeffrey C. Stone suggests are unrelated to his involvement with Blaeu, and indicate a separate design of unknown origins and aims. maps.nls.uk/atlas/blaeu/biogs/straloch.html
